Syed Nazakat leads the CIJ in New Delhi, as well as overseeing its outreach across India. He has worked in senior positions at different media organisations and has over 15 years of experience as broadcast, print and online journalist. He was Special Correspondent at India's leading news magazine THE WEEK. He has reported from over 20 countries and has uncovered some of the biggest stories in India, winning international recognition and many awards. He covered the insurgency in Kashmir, the war in Afghanistan, political turmoil in Nepal, developmental issues in Laos and Cambodia, unrest in Thailand and more recently he reported on civil war situation in South Sudan. He was the first Indian journalist to report from an Al-Qaeda rehab camp in Saudi Arabia and in 2013 he secured unprecedented access to the military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to report about prisoners abuse cases. He has worked in Thailand with Asia News Network (ANN) as an Assistant News Editor. His work has also appeared in TIME magazine, The Daily Star and he is currently writing for Christian Science Monitor. He was online mentor to UPIU, Washington and is an editorial advisor to Asia Pacific Media Educator. He holds master’s degree in journalism from the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center of Journalism at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.

A fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with more than two decades of professional experience, Dinkar has specialized in providing comprehensive professional services in corporate affairs, financial and management consultancy, including M&A, corporate advisory, audits and assurances. Dinkar Marla is also Trustee of various social organizations and societies such as the Citizen Experience Foundation -providing professional assistance for policy advocacy. Dinkar is also an advisor to Exchange4media, a leading company in the field of advertising and marketing on issues related to management, legal affairs and assurances.
